THERE were incredible scenes at Alexandra Palace in London, as Warrington teenager Luke Littler beat 2018 champion Rob Cross to storm into the PDC World Darts Championship final.
Littler, aged 16, is appearing in the tournament for the first time and lost the first set but recovered to win 6-2.
Littler, who has now earned £200,000, is the youngest person to reach the final, overtaking Kirk Shepherd who was 21 years and 88 days old in 2008.
Luke Littler speaking to Sky Sports Darts after beating Rob Cross 6-2 to reach the World Championship final:
“No words! Crazy to think I’m in a World Championship debut in my final. I was happy winning one game but I could go all the way!
“You’re playing Rob, he’s a world champion and won on debut. Rob told me ‘God bless, you’re a step away, do it’.
“I’ve just settled on the stage. It took me a few legs to settle in the game and once I found that rhythm I was good to go!”
On the final he said: “I’ll do what I’ve been doing. In the morning, go for a ham and cheese omelette, then come here have a pizza and then practice! That’s what I’ve done every day.”
