RELATE Cheshire & Merseyside (incorporating Relate Greater Manchester) is looking for new Trustees to join its board and help drive the charity forward as it continues to provide relationship support to couples, families and individuals.

Part of the national Relate federation, the locally run and independent charity is seeking a Treasurer as well as other committed Trustees for this vital non-profit organisation based in Cheshire.

Sarah Hall, Chief Executive of Relate Cheshire & Merseyside said: “As we bring in a new year, many will be considering how they can enhance and develop their careers in a meaningful way. Becoming a Trustee is a great chance to develop your strategic leadership and governance skills whilst supporting vital work that makes a real difference to people’s day-to-day lives.
“In the current climate, our work has become even more critical, as the cost-of-living crisis puts increasing strain on relationships. We’re looking for Trustees that can help shape our strategy for developing the charity post-pandemic and ensuring that we’re here to support people with their relationships for decades to come.”
Recent research from Relate showed that 53% of people were expecting family rows this Christmas and nearly three quarters of those (73%) blamed the cost of living crisis. Overall, a third of the adults surveyed expected the cost of living crisis to have a negative impact on their relationships with loved ones this winter. This rose to almost half (47%) for Gen Z (aged 16-24) and millennials (aged 25-39).
New Trustees of Relate Cheshire & Merseyside (incorporating Greater Manchester) will be part of the governing body, which works together as a team and has collective responsibility for directing the charity.  Key areas of responsibility are compliance, duty of prudence and duty of care. Whilst there are some specific skills the charity is looking for – like digital services, fundraising, finance, and heath care sector expertise – applications are welcomed from all that are passionate about using their skills and know-how to make a difference.
