Firefighters tackle deliberate canal side fire

FIREFIGHTERS were called out to tackle a fire which had been deliberately started on the banks of the Manchester Ship Canal in Warrington.

At 18:52 one crew from Lymm attended reports of a fire on Thelwall New Road.

Some foliage along the canal side was well alight when firefighters arrived on the scene. Crews use a hose reel jet to extinguish the flames and dampen down the area.
