WARRINGTON North MP Charlotte Nichols has been appointed Shadow Minister for Women and Equalities.

She will shadow the work of the Equalities Office, which is responsible for developing equalities policy and promoting equality of opportunity for everyone.
Previous she has served as Parliamentary Private Secretary in the Northern Ireland and International Trade Teams.
It is an important time for the brief, with the Gender Recognition Act, the disproportionate effect of COVID-19 on BAME communities and the challenges of “shielding” for people with disabilities to name just a few.
Ms Nichols said: “I am delighted to have been appointed and look forward to working to make our society more equal for people from all backgrounds.
“Working alongside Marsha de Cordova and Janet Daby, the Women and Equalities brief cuts across almost every area of Government and it is an especially important time to be coming into the job. In this role, I will continue to champion the amazing work done by local groups in Warrington who represent and advocate for our diverse communities.”
Labour leader Sir Keir Starmer said: “I’m looking forward to working with Charlotte in her new role as we rebuild the Labour Party, win back the trust of voters and hold the Government to account.”
