Town make it three in a row

WARRINGTON Town came from behind to win 1-2 at Chorley as they made it three wins in a row moving up to 7th in the Unibond Division One North.
In an uninspiring first half Warrington found themselves one down after 25 minutes following a rare error by central defender Tom Hardwick who lost possession after standing on the ball, with Alex Porter finishing well to beat keeper Ben Connett.
Manager Joey Dunn’s half-time team talk obviously did the trick as Town came out of the blocks with Gavin Salmon beating the off-side trap to fire home within a minute of the re-start.
With out of favour Jimmy McCarthy brought off the bench Town looked more dangerous moving forward and Salmon (pictured above) grabbed his second on 63 minutes finishing well from inside the box.
Salmon and McCarthy both had other chances but Warrington couldn’t find an elusive third but managed to hang on for all three points despite some late Chorley pressure.
Town’s next match is a visit to lowly Ossett Albion on Tuesday evening kick off 7.45pm followed by their final game of the season at home to second placed Lancaster next Saturday, kick off 3pm.
Warrington will be using the final home game as an opportunity to unveil ambitious proposals to improve facilities at Cantilever Park and the launch of a special Vice-Presidents club to help move the club forward.
Whatever the outcome they are guaranteed their best ever finish in the Unibond league with plenty to build on for next season.
