A NEW cycling club has been launched in Warrington – hoping to capitalise on the international success of British professional riders.
North Cheshire Clarion Cycling Club is run by local cyclists for local cyclists looking to develop their own abilities, skills and interests in the company of like-minded people.
Aim of the club is to encourage participation in every aspect of the sport, from the recreational to the competitive, on and off the road.
Club secretary Giles Perkins said: “In a few short months we’ve already attracted 40 members. With the warmer weather on its way we hope to welcome lots more new faces, giving members the opportunity to learn from each other and enjoy the benefits of cycling to the full.”
Regular club rides and the sharing of advice and knowledge is already helping local riders develop.
Member Phil Jones said: “I’ve met loads of new people, improved my technique and have advanced as a cyclist since being part of the club.”
North Cheshire Clarion meets every first and third Monday of the month at 8pm at the Thorn Inn, Appleton Thorn near Warrington and everyone is welcome to come along and chat with members and find out more about the club.
Further information is available at www.northcheshireclarion.co.uk where there are full details on the club, membership, rides and future events.
