Technical problem results in 157 new COVID-19 cases being confirmed in Warrington

A technical problem with the reporting of positive COVID-19 tests updated by Public Health England has seen 157 new cases confirmed in Warrington.

It comes following a delay in nearly 16,000 positive COVID-19 results across the country being added to the official figures, the government has announced.
As a result, a further 22,961 lab-confirmed cases of COVID-19 were recorded in the UK today (Sunday), taking the total number to more than 500,000 since the outbreak began.
Due to the technical problem there had been a delay in publishing 15,841 cases in England, meaning the total reported over the coming days will include some additional cases from between 25 September and 2 October.
Public Health England said the people involved all received the test results and those who tested positive were advised to self-isolate.
As a result a total of 157 (92) new cases have been reported in the latest daily figures for Warrington.
The total number of COVID-19 cases reported in Warrington since March is now 2,767 (2,610) 1,317.5 (1,242.8) per 100,000 population. The seven-day average as of Sept 27 was 57.6 (51.9).

Discharges of positive patients (excluding deaths) cumulative 442 (439)
Deaths of Covid-19 positive inpatients cumulative 145 (145)
There have been four COVID-19 related deaths at the hospital since Sunday.
There have been 160 COVID-related deaths reported in Warrington 76.2 per 100,000 population.

*Across the UK the daily number of COVID-19 associated UK deaths was 33 (49), taking the total number of deaths to 42,350 (42,317) –
The daily number of lab-confirmed UK cases was 22,961 (12,872), taking the total number to 502,978 (480,017).
Across the country, there are 2,428 (2,428) patients currently in hospital and 368 (368) patients in ventilator beds.

*An issue was identified overnight on Friday 2 October in the automated process that transfers positive cases data to PHE. It has now been resolved.
The cases by publish date for 3 and 4 October include 15,841 additional cases with specimen dates between 25 September and 2 October — they are therefore artificially high for England and the UK.

  2. Technical problems? What we really mean is IT problems. Is there any other industry with so many problems? Largely due to the seat-of-the-pants attitude of so many of the “experts” that work in it.
