Conservative Club becomes latest venue to close as technical problems sees large increase in COVID-19 cases

WARRINGTON Conservative Club has become the latest venue in town to close after staff tested positive for COVID-19, as new cases in the town, updated from Public Health England, have seen a big increase due to a technical issue.

As a result a total of 92 new cases have been reported in the latest daily figures for Warrington, with the technical problem involving updating new confirmed cases covering the period Sept 24 to Oct 1.
Meanwhile, Warrington Conservative Club based on Dial Street, close to Warrington town centre, has been forced to close, posting on facebook: “As some of you may have heard we have some bar staff that have tested positive for covid-19. We wish them a speedy recovery and will see them soon.
“We have contacted all the relevant authorities and will be following all advice strictly. We will be closing the club for 72 hours following government advice, during this time we will be conducting a deep clean including a disinfectant fogging, as soon as we have more information we will be posting it here.”

The total number of COVID-19 cases reported in Warrington since March is now 2,610 (2,518) 1,242.8 (1,199) per 100,000 population. The seven-day average as of Sept 26 was 51.9 (50.3).
The latest available figures from Warrington Hospital released yesterday, Friday, Oct 2.

There have been four COVID-19 related deaths at the hospital since Sunday.
There have been 160 COVID-related deaths reported in Warrington 76.2 per 100,000 population.

*Across the UK the daily number of COVID-19 associated UK deaths was 49 (66), taking the total number of deaths to 42,317 (42,268) –
The daily number of lab-confirmed UK cases was 12,872 (6,968), taking the total number to 480,017 (453,264).
Across the country, there are 2,428 (2,376) patients currently in hospital and 368 (341) patients in ventilator beds.

*Due to a technical issue, which has now been resolved, there has been a delay in publishing a number of COVID-19 cases to the dashboard in England.
This means the total reported over the coming days will include some additional cases from the period between 24 September and 1 October, increasing the number of cases reported.
