COVID-19 R number rising across the country as 57 new cases confirmed in Warrington

WITH government advisers estimating that the COVID-19 “R number” is rising across the country, a further 57 new lab-confirmed positive test results have been reported in Warrington today, Friday.

The Science Advisory Body (SAGE) estimates the R number is now between 1.2 to 1.5. compared to 1.1 to 1.4 last week from 1.0 to 1.2 the previous week.
The total number of COVID-19 cases reported in Warrington since March is now 2,188 (2,131) 1,014.7 (1,041.8) per 100,000 population.
The seven day average as of Sept 18 was 41.1.
SAGE now believes there is “widespread growth of the epidemic across the country”, with new infections rising by between 4-8 percent every day.
The latest available figures from Warrington Hospital released today (Sept 25).

Total number of tests (inpatients/community) cumulative – 23,221 (22,982)
Total tests with a positive result (inpatients/community/died/discharged) cumulative 1,355 (1,338)
Discharges of positive patients (excluding deaths) cumulative 427 (425)
Deaths of Covid-19 positive inpatients cumulative 141 (141)
Across the UK the daily number of COVID-19 associated UK deaths was 34* (40), taking the total number of deaths to 41,936 (41,902) –
The daily number of lab-confirmed UK cases was 6,874 (6,634), taking the total number to 423,236 (409,729).
Across the country, there are 1,616 (1,542) patients currently in hospital and 243 (228) patients in ventilator beds.
