A SHORT film to encourage young people to use their local library has been premiered at Warrington Central Library.
Warrington’s Youth Council for Libraries – better known as “The Library Crew” has produced the film to support the message that “libraries are cool.”
They have also designed a series of posters and flyers that will be seen, along with the film, across the country.
The Library Crew meets every term to discuss what they think libraries should provide for young people. They also act as advisors and ambassadors for the library service, and challenge outdated perceptions of libraries.
The results of all their hard work were unveiled at the premiere when an invited audience was entertained by poet Craig Bradley.
Martin Gaw, head of libraries and heritage at Warrington Borough Council said: “The time and effort that the library crew have invested into this project is to be commended.
“I’m pleased they have had the opportunity to show-case the results of all their hard work, and am confident their campaign will encourage more young people to use their library.”
