Any more for the tug of war?

ORGANISERS of an annual tug-o-war are opening the competition up to allow more teams to take part.
The tug-o-war at Culcheth Community Day has traditionally between teams from local pubs.
But this year, teams from sports clubs and businesses can also compete – and they need not be from the Culcheth area. Already one company social club from Irlam has entered a team.
The event is one of many attractions at Community Day, held on the village green at Culcheth.
More than 30 stalls will be set up, promoting the activities of charities and voluntary groups and there will be a dog display team, clown, veteran cars and motor bikes, a pet show and other activities.
Community Day is on the May Day Bank Holiday, Monday, May 3, from 12 noon to 4pm. Further details can be obtained from Culcheth and Glazebury Parish Council chairman Sue Bland on 01925 766641 or, for the tug-o-war, from Parish Council members Helena Campbell on 01925 766658 and Peter Caswell on 01942 671938/07986 850239.
