WARRINGTON Borough Council will be broadcasting a live update on the latest coronavirus situation facing the town following the recent appeal to residents not to visit other households.
Residents will be able to tune in to the coronavirus leadership briefing with Council Leader, Cllr Russ Bowden, Chief Executive Professor Steven Broomhead and Director of Public Health, Thara Raj tomorrow, Thursday 17 September, at 5pm.
The broadcast will be made live via the council website, and residents will require a device that can connect to the internet to be able to view it.
The recent decision made by the council to appeal to residents not to visit other households was announced on Monday 14 September, as a further measure to support the new ‘rule of six’ guidance – that is, a maximum of six people can meet from multiple households, as long as they continue to socially distance themselves from one another.
This most recent appeal by the council to ask people not to visit households, including private gardens, will be explained in more detail by Cllr Bowden, Professor Broomhead and Ms Raj, alongside a wider update about the current case number increase in Warrington.
Cllr Bowden said: “We want to explain to residents in more detail our current approach to tackling coronavirus in the town, as well as talking through why not visiting other households, unless you absolutely need to, is a proportionate step in trying to stop the transmission of the virus.
“It’s important that people understand why we have made these decisions. What is even more important, however, is that people continue to follow the clear guidance – keep your distance from other people not in your household, maintain excellent hand hygiene, wear a face-covering where necessary and if you have any symptoms, book a test straight away.”
Cllr Bowden, Professor Broomhead and Ms. Raj will also be answering a selection of questions from residents. You can submit a question to be answered, as part of the leadership update, by emailing [email protected] or by messaging the council on Facebook or Twitter.

Warrington residents urged not to visit other households to avoid local lockdown
Anticipating national static testing centre in Warrington by 25 Sept, day after the national #COVID19 app launch. No guarantees Warrington or neighbours will be able to access it yet. Working hard 😓 as a system #Warringtononthewatchlist @warringtonworld @warringtonnews https://t.co/O6IlJpPYwZ
