£154,000 boost for childcare

WARRINGTON is to receive a £154,800 allocation from the government to fund holiday childcare provision.
The aim is to remove barriers to finding affordable holiday provision – particularly in the summer.
The move has delighted Warrington North MP Helen Jones, (pictured)
She said: “This money is a sign of the government’s determination to assist parents and to keep working to improve childcare.
“It is a pity that, at the same time, the council has decided to close crèches in three leisure centres in Warrington North and not to proceed with children’s centres in Culcheth and Woolston.
“It’s also cutting the provision of library services, vital for giving young children a good start with reading and cutting the subsidy for school meals.
” The council talk the talk about support for families but they’d rather put their money into providing more accountants.
“This government will not go down that road. We will continue to work to improve childcare. “
