FIREFIGHTERS were called out to deal with two fires involving a van and a car in Warrington yesterday.

The first incident was at 14:19 on Birchwood Expressway, Warrington, involving a van issuing smoke.
Crews from Birchwood used a thermal imaging camera to monitor the temperature and a hose reel jet to damp the vehicle down.
They also isolated the battery to make it safe.

Then at around 6.45pm firefighters from Warrington were called to reports of a vehicle fire on Slater Street.
On arrival the crew found smoke billowing from the bonnet of a saloon car.
Firefighters opened the bonnet of the vehicle and used a hose reel jet to extinguish the fire, they then used a thermal imaging camera to check for any hotspots.
The crew were detained at the scene for around 30 minutes.
