Young musicians of the year

TWELVE youngsters will take part in the finals of the Warrington Competition for Young Musicians on Sunday.
The competition, organised by the Warrington Arts Council Initiative for the Development of Music, will be held at Arley Hall.
In addition to the competition, there will be performances by the two top performers who failed to reach the finals.
Hannah Wainwright, voice, was winner of The Rushworth Shield and Selim Ungut, piano, took the Morag Leech Trophy.
The finals are organised in two divisions.
The Lower Division starts at 11am and the competitors are Alex Flanders, piano; Emelye Ferguson, clarinet; Natasha Agarwal, voice; Rachel Hoffman, cello; and Sam Boylan, cornet.
The Upper Division starts at 2.30pm. The competitors are: Alistair McMath, double bass; Chloe Scott, recorder; Elliot Gresty, clarinet; Hector Docx, piano; Josh Briegal, alto saxophone; Lucinda Scott, voice; and Sam Oliver, tuba.
