Travellers vacate Poole Park site

TRAVELLERS have vacated an illegal encampment at Poole Park, Orford, almost a week after arriving at the site, making life a misery for local residents.

Local Cllr Mike Hannon has now called for Warrington Borough Council to send a full team to clear all rubbish and bin bags and to immediately start work on making the site more secure so there is no repeats.
Residents have had to endure Loud music into the early hours, barking dogs, speeding traffic and domestic disputes involving women and children and noise from late night parties.
Local families were also not able to use play area facilities in the park.

Three years ago barriers were set up on the land following a similar problem but the travellers drove over raised pavements to access the land.
Numerous councillors and locla residents have been calling on the borough council to move forward with plans for a permanent transit site in the town to help alleviate similar problems happening again.
But despite setting aside £2million towards providing a site, the council is still not forthcoming with any developments or progress reports.
