Poole Park travellers making life a misery for local residents

A Councillor is calling for urgent action to move travellers on from Poole Park in Orford, following numerous issues which have been making life a misery for local residents.

Loud music into the early hours, barking dogs, speeding traffic and domestic disputes involving women and children are just some of the ongoing issues which have sparked numerous complaints from local residents.
Local Cllr Mike Hannon says he has been woken up during the early hours by local residents ringing to complain about the noise of late night parties.

He is urging council officers to take urgent action saying: “A Section 77 order is issued and we generally let it run its course but while that is happening peoples’ lives are in misery and worry.
“If any individuals behaviour is out of order they would normally be spoken to and if it persists then appropriate action taken. But I cant help getting the feeling, leave them alone, they’ll be gone tomorrow.
“In the mean time peoples’ lives are totally disrupted and people living in fear behind closed curtains with music blasting out, banging out into the early hours of the morning.

Cllr Hannon added: “Local families with children cannot use play equipment in Poole Park because the travellers threaten them.
“If we have these travellers camped in Warrington then whilst here I expect them to behave, if not action taken.
“In this case they appear to have ignored all health, safety and good neighbour behaviour to do whatever they like, which is not on.
The travellers have currently been on site for five days.
Three years ago barriers were set up on the land following a similar problem but the travellers drove over raised pavements to access the land.
