Woman trapped following two vehicle collision on Lythgoes Lane

FIREFIGHTERS used specialist cutting equipment to help rescue a woman trapped in a car following a two vehicle collision on Lythgoes Lane, Warrington, on Tuesday afternoon.

The collision occurred at around around 3.30pm when firefighters were informed of a collision in Lythgoes Lane, Warrington.

On arrival two crews from Penketh and Birchwood discovered the collision involved two cars and that someone was trapped inside one of them.
Two lanes of the road were closed whilst emergency services worked at the scene.
Firefighters made the car that the casualty was trapped inside safe.
They then used specialist cutting equipment to remove the car’s roof and get her out of the vehicle.
The casualty was then handed over to the care of paramedics.
She was taken to hospital in an ambulance.
Firefighters were in attendance for more than half-an-hour.

It is understood the woman was complaining of neck pain band was taken to hospital as a precaution.
The road was closed for an hour and a half and reopened at 5.05pm.
