FOLLOWING a successful relaunch at Orford Jubilee Neighbourhood Hub, the swimming pools at Great Sankey Neighbourhood Hub are set to reopen next Monday, August 24.

LiveWire, which manages leisure services and facilities on behalf of Warrington Borough Council, is reopening swimming activities in a phased manner and in line with guidance from official governing body Swim England.
The swimming pools at Orford Jubilee Neighbourhood Hub successfully reopened for pre-bookable Lane and Family Swims on Monday 10th August with reopening procedures centred around the safety of customers and staff. Measures included limited numbers in the pool, wider lanes, enhanced cleaning schedules and swimmers asked to arrive ‘swim ready’ to limit the time spent in communal changing areas.
The popular Aquafit classes have also restarted at Orford this week.
Following the successful relaunch of the pool programme at Orford, swimming at Great Sankey Neighbourhood Hub will restart from Monday 24th August – with Lane and Family Swims and Aquafit being available to prebook from today.
Following customer feedback on the Orford timetable LiveWire has also created a number Family Swim Lanes in the main pool during a Lane Swim which is to support provision for children who are competent swimmers but are under 11, and therefore can’t attend standard Lane Swims. This will be available at both Orford and Great Sankey.

Catriona Sudlow, Activity Development Manager for LiveWire, said: “Following the reopening of the pools at Orford Jubilee Neighbourhood Hub we have seen a fantastic response with people enjoying the opportunity to return to the pool. We would like to thank all customers for their ongoing support and hope they have enjoyed being back swimming.
“After the success of the pool reopening at Orford, we can confirm we will be re-opening the pools at Great Sankey Neighbourhood Hub from Monday 24th August. This will be a reduced programme focused around Lane Swimming, Family Swims and Aquafit.”

The reopening of swimming pools is being managed in a phased manner and is in line with anticipated member demand, and also due to site-specific practicalities of maintaining social distancing measures.

Pre-booking is essential, with Lane Swimming, Family Swims and Aquafit classes available for booking online via the LiveWire website and App from Monday 10th August (seven days in advance). The Family Lane Swims need to be booked through the Contact Centre, as can other sessions, by calling 01925 572504.
LiveWire would like to reassure members that these factors are being closely monitored to help dictate when other sites/pools will reopen – however at this present time it is not possible to provide any fixed timelines on the reopening of other pools in the borough.
LiveWire will now look to how to safely bring back the Learn to Swim programme in line with all relevant guidelines, and is hopeful swimming lessons will return from September 2020. All members will be contacted when more details regarding swimming lessons are available
