Pay freeze for council staff

STAFF employed by Stockton Heath and Appleton parish councils will not receive approved pay rises this year – because of the “economic climate.”
The Joint Employing Committee of the two councils has decided not to increase the salaries of the joint clerk and parish ranger from April, despite increases approved nationally.
Coun Peter Walker said that although the staff could not be rewarded “monetarily” due to the economic climate – their continuing hard work was “much appreciated.”
