Catering firm serves up water

A WARRINGTON-based contract catering company has pledged to support African water project, One Water.
Catering Academy, who secured 10th position in this year’s Sunday Times Fast Track 100 list, agreed to sell One Water across its contract base. Its target was to sell more than 140,000 bottles of the water throughout its catering faculties in a year.
By achieving its aim, Team Academy has generated enough funding to produce and install one fresh water well with a second currently due to be completed later this year.
Wells are constructed in the form of “play-pumps” which are powered by children’s roundabouts in the village schools, eradicating the long journeys families have to make every day to secure water and adding a fun element for the children.
The company also nominated the One Water foundation as its chosen charity, making further donations on behalf of its clients instead of Christmas gifts last year. The company also sells fair trade tea and coffee.
Company director Louise Wymer said: “Catering Academy has always been a dedicated advocate of locally sourced produce, fair-trade goods and organic trading – hence our interest in getting involved with the One Water project.
“It is vital that companies in our industry show their support for produce that offers all parties a better quality of life.”
