TODAY is National No Smoking Day – and in Warrington a wide range of events are take place to encourage smokers to break free of the habit.
Quitters are four times as likely to stop smoking with help, which is available free from the local NHS Stop Smoking Service on 01925 843713 or email [email protected].
A mobile cancer information ‘iVan’ started touring the town yesterday (Tuesday) with the Warrington Stop Smoking team on hand to provide stop smoking support and advice, as well as a lump, bump and mole check.
Today, the Fire Service Information Van will be parked outside the Starbucks in central Warrington. People can get stop smoking advice as well as fire safety advice and checks from the fire mentors from 10am till 3pm.
Also today, stop smoking student champions will be promoting No Smoking Day at Warrington Collegiate Students Union from 11am to 2pm. They will be offering informal chats with student smokers about how much money they could save by cutting down or quit smoking all together, and encouraging smokers to visit the information stand and the sports stall for “peak flow” breathing tests.
Tomorrow (Thursday) there will be free toast and tea for anyone who signs up to the Stop Smoking service from 9am to 12 midday at Longford Community Centre Café.
