A NEW theatre company is to raise the curtain on a controversial play at Warrington.
The Encore Theatre Company will stage John Godber’s play “Bouncers” at St Thomas’s Church Hall, Stockton Heath on March 25-28.
Bouncers is in the national theatres list of most important British plays and is set in a northern nightclub, focussing on the exploits of four doormen and their clientele.
Godber’s other plays include A Clockwork Orange, Up and Under and Shakers and Bouncers ranks among his best.
Seb Farrell, director, said: “Bouncers is one of John Godber’s greatest plays and we are lucky to have a versatile cast that are well up to the challenge of bringing it back to life.
“The show depicts blue collar life at its funniest and observational comedy at its best with characters that we can all relate to in one way or another. Godbers raw talent for capturing the comic genius in everyday events will have you rolling in the aisles”
