Briers facing lay-off with ankle injury

WARRINGTON Wolves’ talisman Lee Briers could be facing a lengthy lay-off after suffering ankle ligament damage in last night’s 20-22 defeat to Wigan Warriors.
Briers bravely got up and played the ball after twisting his ankle in a tackle but had to be helped from the pitch in agony as the pain kicked in.
A scan has shown there is no break but damaged ligaments which should heal with rest and physio.
But Briers is still in considerable pain and could be sidelined for several weeks, if not longer, depending on how long it takes the damage to heal.
Warrington were winning 16-4 at the time of Briers’ injury early in the second half but went on to lose 20-22 despite a grandstand finish when David Solomona just failed to touch down properly in the last minute.
