Town’s COVID-19 related death toll climbs to 183 with latest care home figures

THE number of people who are now known to have died in Warrington after testing positive for COVID-19 has climbed to 183, including the latest figures for deaths in care homes.

Four more patients have sadly died at Warrington Hospital after testing positive for COVID-19, although there was just one new case confirmed at the hospital, taking the total number of confirmed cases to 688.The number of patients who have now died at the hospital is 108, while 75 people have died in local care homes, up to the week ending May 8, taking the town’s death toll to at least 183.
As of noon Monday, the hospital had discharged a total of 235 patients.
Across the UK the Daily number of COVID-19 associated UK deaths was 494 taking the total number to 33,186.
The daily number of lab-confirmed UK cases was 3,242 taking the total number to 229,705.

Meanwhile at the Government’s daily briefing Secretary of State for Housing, Communities and Local Government Robert Jenrick said social distancing was critical to controlling the virus.
He added the the government wanted to “cautiously open up parts of our economy where it is safe to do so.”
