WARRINGTON Town FC are hosting Romanian Champions Unirea Urzecini who play Liverpool at Anfield next Thursday, (Feb 18) in a Europa League Qualifier.
The Romanians are staying at the Park Royal Hotel in Stretton and have hired Town’s Cantilever Park Stadium for training in the build up to the big game.
They will be training under floodlight each evening, practicing set pieces and game plans.
Chief Executive Gary Skentelbery said: “We are delighted the Romanians have chosen our facilities for their big game and I think this must be a first for our club, hosting the league champions of a European country.
“A lot of our lads are Liverpool fans so I am sure they will be trying to get a sneak preview of the opposition!
“We had been hoping to have a trial game against them but I don’t think their manager wants to risk any injuries.”
Meanwhile Warrington will be continuing their push for promotion as they travel to title contenders Skelmersdale tomorrow, (Saturday) kick off 3pm followed by a tripto Mossley next Tuesday (Feb 16), who are playing their evening games at Ashton United due to floodlight problems.
