Firefighters kept busy fighting fires in the open

FIRE crews from the Warrington area have been kept busy tackling fires in the open, including a wheelie bin blaze during the early hours of today at Orford.

One crew from Warrington attended at Orford, shortly after midnight following reports of a fire in the open on Grasmere Avenue.
On arrival the crew discovered that the fire involved a wheelie bin well alight.
One hose reel jet was used to extinguish the fire.
Prior to that, just after 9pm One fire engine from Stockton Heath attended reports of a fire in the open off Wilkinson Avenue, Warrington.
The crew used a water back pack to extinguish the fire.
In another incident a fire engine from Birchwood attended reports of smoke coming from a car on Cliff Lane at Lymm shortly after 5pm.
On arrival the crew discovered that the fire involved an overheated car engine.
One hose reel jet was used to cool down the area while a thermal imaging camera checked the temperature.
Absorbent sheets were used to clean up a small oil spill.
Earlier in the day at 3.15pm two fire engines attended, one from Birchwood and one from Wilmslow were called to reports of a fire in the open in Warrington Lane, Lymm.
On arrival the fire involving a grass bank measuring approximately 20 metres by three metres had been extinguished by members of the public.
Firefighters damped down the bank with a hose reel jet to make it safe.
They were in attendance for around 45 minutes.
