A Warrington woman is helping raise funds for Warrington Hospital by making rainbows.
So far Janine Darwin has raised nearly £500 in less than week via her justgiving page entitled “Teds Mums Rainbows.”
Emma Smith contacted warrington-worldwide to highlight her friend’s “amazing” work.
Emma said: “My good friend Janine Darwin is amazing at crochet!! I saw a pattern on Facebook last week of a rainbow which I loved! I asked Janine if she’d be able make it!! Three hours later she was at my doorstep with it. I was blown away with how gorgeous it was, so I hung it it the window, took a picture of it and posted it on my Facebook page! The amount of people commenting saying that they’d love one was unbelievable! So Janine decided to start making them. She set up a just giving page for Warrington and Halton hospital PPE and asked people to leave a small donation to the charity.
“She then started to run low in wool, so we put a plea out for donations of wool. Lots of locals were donating – it is amazing!”
People have been putting pictures of rainbows in their house windows to help cheer up passersby during the coronavirus crisis.
They have also been displayed on the town’s locla buses.
