Peace centre targeted by vandals for third consecutive night

WARRINGTON’S Peace Centre has been the target of vandals for a third consecutive night – with CCTV evidence now in the hands of the police.

Up to four young people, including one girl, with an estimated age of 14 have been coming to the Peace Centre in the early hours, around 03:00 and have tried to cause damage to street furniture and windows. They have their faces covered with scarves and hoods but have been picked up on the centre’s CCTV and cameras and the images are now with the Police, who are increasing patrols in the area. No major damage was done last night, but the centre is concerned for the safety of them and others given the ignoring of Government advice and the general intent to intimidate and cause damage.

Chief Executive Nick Taylor said:”We again appeal to the local community as such young people must be known and the fact they are breaking the lockdown and wandering the streets at this time is very worrying.”
