Head shaving for Haiti

A WARRINGTON student has had his head shaved to raise money for the victims of the Haiti earthquake – and helped raise more than £2,000.
Oliver Howard, vice president of the Student Union at Chester University underwent the impromptu head-shave at the Warrington Campus – raising £550.
Student union president Jamie Northrop also had his head shaved.
Clubs and societies at the university’s Warrington and Chester campuses raised about £2,200 for the Disasters Emergency Committee Haiti Earthquake appeal.
A series of events have been staged by students in both Warrington and Chester since the earthquake, including “Hugs for Haiti” – an event organised by the university’s People and Planet Society.
Student Jenni Moss said: “We just wanted to make a difference, even if it is a drop in the ocean in terms of fundraising. We were horrified at the scenes that were being beamed back from Haiti on television, as was the whole world, and we felt a bit helpless. By doing our bit, hopefully it will help to bring comfort in some form to the victims of this devastating disaster.”
