SOME Warrington Foodbank supermarket collection points have had to be moved because people were stealing from them.
Warrington Foodbank say that collection points have been temporarily removed from their positions and that anyone wishing donate items in a supermarket should ask the store staff/customer service where the donation points are.
Warrington North MP Charlotte Nichols said: “Warrington Foodbank is going to be pushed to its limits over the coming weeks, so it’s heartbreaking to hear of thefts taking place from their collection points in local stores.
“I understand that some of the scenes of empty supermarket shelves can be frightening but we must ensure that the Foodbank’s supplies are allocated to those most in need, and not people taking the matter into their own hands.
“Please only buy what you need to ensure there is enough for everyone, and if you can, please consider donating to the Foodbank to see our community’s most vulnerable through the crisis”.
