Rylands strengthened the grip on second place in the NWCFL Premier Division table by winning 2-0 at Whitchurch Alport to extend their unbeaten run to nine games.

In an entertaining game of many chances at both ends the outcome was decided by two wind assisted Andy Scarisbrick corners, one in each half, caused confusion in the home side’s defence.

In the 5th minute his in swinging corner was deflected into his own net by Alport defender Darren Campion, while in the 61st minute another vicious in swinging delivery caught in the wind and sailed over the goalkeepers head to nestle in the far post direct from the corner.

Unbeaten since mid January Rylands were named Macron Premier Division club of the month for February, a month in their five games resulted in four wins and a draw as they maintained the pressure on league leaders 1874 Northwich.

One of Rylands stars has been goalkeeper Michael Emery, who won the Reusch Premier Division Goalkeeper of the Month for February after keeping two clean sheets and conceding just four goals in the five games.. It has been a brilliant month for Mikey who has made a huge difference since coming back to the club. As well as his two clean sheets in the month, he has also pulled out couple of world class saves that have been as good as goals.

Rylands are on the road again next Saturday when they visit Congleton Town, kick off 3pm
