Mrs James was responsible for establishing four branches of the Arthritis Research Council (arc) at Culcheth, Croft and Glazebury, Eccles, Irlam and Cadishead and Stretford, 30 years ago.
Since then, more than £80,000 has been raised for the vital research and educational work of the charity by loyal volunteers and supporters in these branches, including more than £34,000 from the Culcheth, Croft and Glazebury Branch.
