Sexual health screening success

NHS Warrington has achieved the highest rate of uptake across the North West for Chlamydia Screening amongst 15-24 year olds in Warrington.
Chlamydia screening reduces the incidence of the sexually transmitted disease in young people through actively promoting and encouraging both Chlamydia Screening and safer sexual health practices.
The result sees Warrington leading the way in the North West on such an important health program and is a direct result of all the hard work undertaken to promote and conduct Chlamydia Screening for the 15-24 age group.
NHS Warrington has worked with registered charity the Terrence Higgins Trust and local GPs and community sexual health providers to undertake and co-ordinate Chlamydia Screening throughout the community. Chlamydia Screening has been available in local pubs, clubs, colleges and clinics with free postal testing kits also available. The screening has also received fantastic support from local youth services.
Kerry Broadhead, NHS Warrington’s Head of Commissioning and Health Improvement said: “We are very proud to achieve such an excellent result and thank all the services involved for their hard work and look forward to their continued support on what is a key public health programme for our young people.”
NHS Warrington are currently promoting sexual health messages aimed at men and have placed target designed stickers in men’s toilets in local pubs, clubs and colleges. These stickers react to contact with heat and reveal key information about how to get a free Chlamydia testing kit.
