Community groups win funding bids

FOUR organisations have been selected as winners in the annual Omega Warrington Ltd Community Bid for Funding Initiative.
The awards to Whittle Hall Junior Football Club, Park Road Primary School, The Adam Lewis Effect Foundation and St Philip’s Church recognise the work they do within their communities.
Colin Graham from Omega Warrington Ltd (OWL) said: “The standard and quantity of applications for funding was very high this year following the launch for bids in the spring.
“The selection process is always tough, but we are very proud to be supporting this year’s worthy winners.”
Whittle Hall Junior Football Club will be purchasing new kits for its girls’ team. While the club was established 21 years ago, the girls’ teams only started a year ago and after months of using mismatched kits, the young players will finally go onto the pitch with a kit of their own.
Park Road Primary School has been exploring ways to improve its students’ emotional wellbeing and has decided to create a dedicated nature room in the school grounds. This is designed to give children the space and support they need to discuss their feelings and may well be opened up for parent/carer support sessions, as well as for use by partner schools.
The Adam Lewis Effect Foundation is a family run charity set up in memory of 24-year-old Adam, who died from Sudden Arrhythmic Death Syndrome. They now raise awareness of the syndrome and carry out screenings to help detect any underlying medical issues in others.
St Philip’s Church, Westbrook will be using its funding to turn a disused piece of land into a fully accessible, low maintenance community garden for the use of any local resident.
Mr Graham said: “It has been a pleasure to support this year’s winners and, in some cases, we can already see the positive effects the funding is delivering. We are pleased to have been able to support all sorts of different causes, with a real focus on the young people of Warrington, supporting them both mentally and physically. We would like to thank everyone who took the time to apply for the funding and would encourage those who were not successful this time, to look out for future opportunities with Omega.”
