A BAKER’S dozen of talented maths students from Warrington have excelled in a national challenge aimed at the most academically gifted students in the country.
The students from Priestley College sat the United Kingdom Maths Trust papers and thirteen of them came up trumps with an award.
Louis Pickering was particularly successful as he landed gold in the competition while Iain Findlay, James Tilstone and Ryan Barker all notched silver alongside nine other students who scooped bronze.
The subjects of maths and science have remained as popular as ever at the Loushers Lane college with the group of students among the most successful ever to sit the challenge in Priestley’s history.
Louis Pickering, who is also studying physics and electronics, said: “I enjoy maths at Priestley so the opportunity to sit the UK Challenge was a good one.
“I’m now hopeful of going onto study physics with astrophysics at University next summer and I’m sure the success in this competition will help towards that long term aim.”
