MP wants to carry on serving Warrington South

WARRINGTON South MP Faisal Rashid says it has been a “huge privilege” to represent the constituency for the last two years – but much remains to be done and he is the person to do it.
“I am the person with the experience, the enthusiasm and the optimism needed to get on with the job.’’
Mr Rashid was among the vast majority of MPs who voted for a General Election to be held on Thursday, December 12.
Warrington North MP Helen Jones – who has announced that she is retiring as an MP – abstained in the vote.
Mr Rashid said for almost a year, Labour, SNP, Liberal Democrat, Welsh Nationalist, Conservatives, Independent and Green MPs had been working together to prevent a “No Deal” Brexit or Theresa May’s very bad deal.
Boris Johnson had re-negotiated the ‘withdrawal agreement’ with Europe and brought back a deal that was worse than the original.
He had said the UK would leave the EU by October 31 “do or die” but had failed to do so and EU membership was now extended until January 31.
Parliament had now decided that the best way forward was to hold an early General Election.
Mr Rashid MP added: “We now have the opportunity to elect a Labour Government with the most ambitious and radical agenda for change our country has ever seen.
“After years of Tory austerity, it is time to rebuild our communities, invest in our public services, boost local business and bring our country back together again.
“It has been a huge privilege to represent Warrington South over the past two years, but much remains to be done. I am the person with the experience, the enthusiasm and the optimism needed to get on with the job.’’
