A PILOT episode for a new television series on markets will be filmed in Warrington tomorrow (Saturday).
Local TV presenter and historian Mark Olly (pictured) – “The Man in Black” – will be taking part, together with celebrity chef Chris Roberts known as the “Ninja Chef” and actress Jeni Howarth Williams for the show.
Between them, the presenters will uncover interesting stories from each market including local history, cooking tips and revealing the wealth of characters that make markets so popular.
Tomorrow, Warrington Market is holding a special Christmas showcase event and the television production team have taken the opportunity to start filming the pilot episode.
The new series currently has a working title of “Market” and is planned to travel across the country highlighting the wealth of treasures held by each market. This is timed to coincide with a new government initiative aimed at revitalising the market industry as an important part of town centres.
Mark Olly is delighted the award winning Warrington Market has been chosen to feature in the pilot episode.
He said: “It will be joy to launch our new TV project here on such historic home turf.”
Mark will also be signing copies of his new DVD “Europe’s Roswell” outside the market.
“It’s an investigation into a Welsh UFO crash back in 1983 that left actual debris behind that can’t be identified,” he said.
