LAURA Callaghan, from Warrington’s Park Royal Hotel, won a top award in the 15th Marketing Cheshire Annual Tourism Awards at a glittering ceremony at Knutsford.
The event was hosted by TV presenter Lucy Nichols and was attended by 300 guests and aimed to recognise excellence and outstanding achievement by local businesses and individuals working in Cheshire’s visitor economy, now worth over £3.5 billion.
Laura, wedding and special events co-ordinator, won the Rising Star in the Tourism Industry award.
Winners came from all over the county
Mark Livesey, chief executive, Marketing Cheshire, said: “The glittering Annual Tourism Awards Evening is a fantastic way of celebrating all that is best about Cheshire. The county has a wealth of extraordinary sites, accommodation and attractions and extraordinary individuals and teams that are continually innovating to remain at the ‘top of their game’. It is inspiring to publicly recognise the exceptional contribution that they make to both residents and visitors, from both home and abroad.
“A highlight for everyone in Cheshire this year is Jodrell Bank being awarded UNESCO World Heritage status in recognition of its internationally significant heritage, science and cultural impact. For this astounding achievement, Jodrell Bank also wins this year’s Special Contribution to Tourism.”
