BABY Loss Awareness Week launches in Warrington next week to raise awareness of pregnancy and baby loss

The Butterfly Team at Warrington Hospital and Child Bereavement UK’s Cheshire service will be hosting a Wave of Light Service during the week, October 9-15.

Baby Loss Awareness Week, now in its 17th year, is an opportunity for bereaved parents, families and friends, to commemorate babies’ lives and break the silence around pregnancy and baby loss in the UK.

The Wave of Light Service will take place on Tuesday (October 15) at 6.30pm at St Elphin’s Church, Church Street, Warrington.

Bereavement Support Sister Debbie Yates from Warrington Hospital said, “We hope that the Wave of Light Service will raise awareness about baby loss and give local bereaved parents and families an opportunity to talk about their precious babies”.

Bereavement Support practitioner Pia Clay from Child Bereavement UK said, “Families who have lost a baby during pregnancy, during or soon after birth talk about the utter devastation, and a sense of loneliness and isolation, caused both by the loss and the fact that it is often not understood by others. Through this event, we hope families will feel that they are not alone and feel less isolated in their grief.”
