A POLICE operation in Warrington which resulted in no arrests has been hailed as a great success by senior officers.
The operation – part of the ongoing Operation Strikeout campaign against drug related crime – involved officers working alongside partners agencies in the town centre as part of a proactive night time initiative.
Inspector Richard Reeves said: “During the visits officers talked to licensees, checked that licensing conditions were being adhered to and offered any advice or support if needed. Licensees were very supportive of the operation and it was pleasing to see that everything was in order and no major issues were identified.
“The high-profile police presence and the drugs dog acted as a good deterrent throughout the night and helped to get the message across that drug related crime will not be tolerated in Warrington.
“A peaceful night was had by all and it passed without any major incidents. The success of the night time operation reinforces the good work that is being carried out in the town centre by police and partners – including licensees and door staff.”
The town centre initiative took place on Friday and followed a series of dawn raids across the town the same day.
The aim was get the message across that drug related crime will not be tolerated in Warrington – and police believe the fact that no offences were uncovered is an indication the policy is working.
