A CONTROVERSIAL art form considered “crime” by some and “masterpieces” by others is proving popular in Warrington.
Staff at Warrington Museum and Art Gallery say the exhibition “(R)Evolution of Urban Art” is inspiring debate among local people.
Featuring work from Banksy, Candice Tripp and Jose Parla as well as several others, it is expected never to be seen again in the town.
Banksys’ work has been displayed in (and sometimes on) the world’s most prominent art galleries and in some cases without them knowing anything about it.
The exhibition features interviews with the contributors and tries to dispel the view that they are just “glorified graffiti artists.”
It runs until next March and is open Monday to Friday 10am to 4.30pm and Saturday 10am to 4pm. Admission if free.
