ORNAMENTAL gardens, a sports hub and a play zone are just three of the improvements planned for a popular Warrington park.
Earlier this year more than 200 people, representing user groups and the local community took part in consultation events about redevelopment of Victoria Park in Latchford.
They gave opinions on a range of issues including access and parking, community facilities, sport and recreation, landscape and wildlife and developing the park’s waterfront.
Environment Agency staff also discussed ideas for managing flood risk in Warrington, essential to the redevelopment of the park and surrounding areas.
Those consulted gave support for the borough council’s plans, which were approved this week by the executive board. Development plans will be progressed next year, with priority work expected to start during the year.
Funding for the project is expected to come from a range of partners, external funding and grant awarding organisations.
