Town's silver lining!

WARRINGTON Town will have an extra silver lining at their home game on Saturday when Wolves’ Wembley winner Chris Riley will be parading the Challenge Cup before kick off.
Warrington born Riley from Town’s illustrious Rugby League neighbours, will be a special guest at Cantilever Park when Town entertain Chorley in the Unibond Division One North clash, kick off 3pm.
The Wolves have kindly agreed bring the Challenge Cup to the match as they share their success with other organisations around the town.
Other guests include the Mayor of Warrington Coun Brian Axcell, one of the growing band of season ticket holders at the football club.
Warrington Town Chief Executive Gary Skentelbery said: “When Warrington Wolves won the Challenge Cup it provided a major boost to the town. It put a smile on the face of Warrington.
“It is a fantastic gesture by the Wolves to allow the Challenge Cup to go on display at Cantilever Park and also good to see a local lad like Chris Riley showing his support for the football club.
“Since moving to the Halliwell Jones and bringing sporting success back to Warrington, the Wolves’ have now set standards we all aspire to.
“Having a successful football team in Warrington has been long over due and working closely with the Wolves like this is an important part of raising the profile of the football club and attracting more support.
“Many of our fans and a good number of our players are all Warrington Wolves’ supporters, so Saturday should be a very special occasion for the club.
“A lot of hard work has been going on behind the scenes at the football club and occasions like this make it all worthwhile.”
Crowds have steadily been increasing since the introduction of free admission to all youngsters aged under 16 and student card holders at the club’s principal sponsors Warrington Collegiate.
Town now have their own “barmy army” who will be wearing their Santa outfits on Saturday.
