A CARE home in Warrington is opening its doors to the public to showcase an innovative new approach to caring for people living with dementia.
Green Park care home in Great Sankey, is holding a Community Open Day on Friday from 10am to 3pm to launch Reconnect, a dynamic new care model that empowers people living with dementia to retain their identity, in a safe and positive environment.
The home has undergone an extensive refurbishment programme, designed to recognise the needs of people with dementia, with small lounges, in a homely yet therapeutic environment supported by a team of highly trained dementia therapists
Visitors to the Open Day will learn how the Reconnect care model is set to revolutionise care for people with dementia, reducing the need to move them to specialist units to meet their complex needs and provide increased family engagement to improve the experience for residents, families and staff.
Lorraine Lee and Mark Quarmby, co-authors of a new book, Making Sense of Dementia, will be on hand to explain the reasoning behind Reconnect.
