TWO more suspects have been arrested as the police crackdown on drug related crime in Warrington continues.
Over the past week, police have raided four more properties in the Warrington West area, with two people arrested and a suspected Class A and B drugs seized.
Sergeant Dan Lever, of Warrington West NPU, said: “This once again shows our ongoing commitment to targeting suspected criminal activity and anti-social behaviour within the local community. We know that drug use and supply can have a major impact on the local community and it is an issue we take extremely seriously.”
Raids took place in Yardley Avenue and Haryngton Avenue, Bewsey, Knight Road, Burtonwood and Samuel Street, Sankey Bridges.
A 36-year-old man was arrested after the Burtonwood raid and subsequently charged with possession of cocaine and amphetamine, possessing a firearm, abstracting electricity and producing cannabis. A quantity of suspected Class A drugs were found at the housel, along with 24 cannabis plants and a canister of pepper spray.
A 30-year-old man was arrested at the Samuel Street address and later charged with possession of a Class B drug. A quantity of cannabis bush was seized at the scene.
Since May, police have raided a total of 25 addresses in the area.
Sergeant Lever added: “We hope that our actions are helping to reassure members of the local community that we are taking their concerns seriously. We also hope that it is helping to reinforce the message that we will not tolerate any sort of behaviour that has a negative effect on the quality of life of others and that we will continue to work in partnership with the local community to tackle the issue.
“I would encourage anyone with any information – no matter how insignificant it may seem – to come forward and report it.”
Anyone with any information about drug related crime is urged to call Cheshire Police on 0845 458 0000. Information can also be passed anonymously, via Crimestoppers, on 0800 555 111.
