WORK is to start soon on important road improvement works at Warrington which will mean a series of daytime closures.
The work involves Sandy Lane West, Orford between Winwick Road and Chiltern Road and will take about three weeks, starting on Monday November 23.
Traffic will be prevented from accessing Sandy Lane West during the hours of 9am to 4pm. Gough Avenue will be closed at the junction with Sandy Lane West and the main access to Fordton Leisure Centre will also be closed.
Vehicle access to the leisure centre will be available by using the gate in Chiltern Road. The main gate will be open for vehicles outside the hours of work.
Vehicle access to Gough Avenue will be from Northway/Densham Avenue or Hunter Avenue.
Access to Old Winwick Road will be not be affected except when planing and resurfacing is taking place at the junction with Sandy Lane West. This is expected to be for two days only.
Vehicle access to properties between Gough Avenue and Chiltern Road will not be available during working hours when work is taking place outside properties. Access to properties will be available outside working hours.
Access for pedestrians will be available at all times. Alternative pedestrian routes will be provided when the footways are being resurfaced. No bus services are affected, including school buses. The school service to the leisure centre will be diverted to Chiltern Road. Council services such as bin collections will not be affected.
All the closures and diversions will be signed around the area affected.
A council spokesperson said: “The necessary replacement of the carriageway, kerbs and pavements will dramatically improve service to the area, for both pedestrians and motorists.”
