School cooking oil to be recycled

SCHOOL meals staff from Warrington are doing their bit for the environment by sending waste cooking oil to be recycled into bio-fuel.
The bio-fuel will be used by Cheshire-based Convert2Green to fuel generating systems that provide heat and power to public buildings.
Experts say this will deliver an 80 per cent reduction in carbon emissions compared to an equivalent amount of energy from the National Grid.
A borough council spokesperson said that as well as reducing the council’s carbon emissions, the move will also be reducing costs as Convert2Green does not charge for collections.
