MARNIE Millard, chief executive of iconic Vimto drinks firm Nichols plc, is to take on the role of ambassador for the new youth charity, Warrington Youth Zone.
Over the next 12 months, she aims to raise awareness and inspire the whole community to back the transformational Youth Zone project.
Set to be built in Dallam Lane, the new Youth Zone will be a state-of-the-art youth facility for young people aged 7 to 19, and up to 25 for those with additional needs, to enjoy over 20 activities every night for just 50p per visit.
The £6.5 million centre will include an indoor climbing wall, 3G kick pitch, dance and drama studio, fully equipped gym, four-court sports hall, training kitchen, arts and crafts studio, and an enterprise and employability suite.
Ms Millard said: “I am absolutely delighted to become an Ambassador for Warrington Youth Zone. The Youth Zone will bring together young people from all parts of the borough, allowing them to socialise in a safe environment, try new activities, develop their skills and discover their talents.
“Warrington Youth Zone’s success is built on a unique partnership between the private sector, local authority, local community and young people – what better way to support the borough of Warrington than through its young people?
“I would urge other local businesses to support this brilliant charity which will provide thousands of young people with the tools to build happier, healthier, more aspirational lives.”
As an ambassador of Warrington Youth Zone, Marnie will give her time to raise awareness of the charity which needs to raise annual running costs of over £1 million.
Mark Brocklehurst, chairman at Warrington Youth Zone said: “Marnie is a fantastic role model for young people from Warrington and we are proud to welcome her to the team as an ambassador. With over 20 years of business experience leading the Vimto brand to success and an OBE for her services to international trade and businesses in North West England, we hope she will inspire other business leaders in Warrington to come forward to support the borough’s young people and provide them with the three things they need most; somewhere to go, something to do and someone to talk to.”
