Fostering open day

FOSTERING and adoption teams from Warrington Council are holding an “open day” to encourage more people to find out how to get involved.
Anyone who wants to find out more about becoming a foster carer or adopting a child can visit the Gateway, opposite the Town Hall on Tuesday November 10, from 11am to 7pm.
The drop-in event is part of a council campaign to encourage more people to find out about becoming a foster carer or adopting a child.
It marks ‘Adoption Week’, which runs from November 9 to 15, and will offer a one-off chance to meet staff and get face-to-face advice from childcare professionals.
There are more than 4,000 children in the UK who have no family and no loving home and 60,000 children and young people in the care of the government.
A council spokesperson said: “There are no blanket bans in adoption, so please don’t think we’ll turn you down because you’re over 40, single, or don’t own your own home.
“What we really need are people who can offer a child or sibling group a loving and supportive family for life. People who can help a child recover from the reasons why they came in to care and can help them go on to thrive in a new family.
“It is not easy to make space for a child in your life, but it could prove to be one of the most rewarding choices you have ever made.”
